Abraham Zapruder

Well, we were out of high school then but this event coloured our lives and it happened in 1963. You remember just what you were doing when you heard about this.

Teletype was still in use. In newsrooms around the world, people stood in silent little knots around the Model 15 or the KSR33 on the U.P.I. wire. It mindlessly chopped away at its roll of yellow paper, oblivious to the horrific content. When the two operators contending for that wire had finished sorting out Items 207 and 208 of November 22nd, 1963, our comfy 'fifties world had been swept clean away.

Emotion had overtaken the wire service operators, too. This is exactly the text that appalled those who first saw Item 208 that day.

After all these years, the film we came know so well is now in the public domain. In fact, it has been improved by showing the entire film width. Have a look here.
