
--ANNETTE Funicello: Annette was the only Mouseketeer who was kept on Disney contract after MMC wnet[sic] off the air. She went on to star in beach party movies with Frankie Avalon, but (following Walt's advice) always wore a one-piece swim suit. She starred in a TV movie about her life and battle with multiple sclerosis and created the Annette Funicello Research Fund for Neurological Disorders.
--SHARON Baird: Continued to work in children's entertainment, performing on stage and television. Did some tap dancing on a Gallagher comedy special (now on video). Maintains a close friendship with Annette Funicello.
--LONNIE Burr: Achieved success as an author, "Two for the Show: Great Comedy Teams (1898-1978)"; appeared in numerous Broadway, TV and film performances, including "Hook," "Mr. Saturday Night," and a recent musical episode of "Chicago Hope."
--BOBBY Burgess: Became a star dancer on "The Lawrence Welk Show." He still performs with the Welk troupe in Branson, Mo. Bobby recalls: "Lawrence Welk told me, 'Walt raised you right.'"
--TOMMY Cole: After a television and music career, he became one of Hollywood's most sought-after makeup professionals, winning an Emmy and working with celebrities such as Cher and Barbara Walters.
--DARLENE Gillespie: Made several Mouseketeer reunion performances, became a surgical nurse. Her fiance pled[sic] guilty to stock fraud charges and was sentenced to prison. Darlene pled[sic] innocent but she was also convicted. The sencencing[sic] is scheduled for March 1999; at age 57 she faces a maximum of 90 years in jail. "I'm certainly disappointed," she said, "Truthfully, I'm really surprised. It's just amazing sometimes to deal with a situation like this." [see below]
--CUBBY O'Brien: A drummer by profession, O'Brien toured with the Carpenters for 10 years. Also worked with Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme and toured with Shirley MacLaine.
--KAREN Pendleton: Didn't stay in show business. Paralyzed[sic] by a spinal injury suffered in a 1983 automobile accident, she became a counselor[sic] at a battered women's shelter and served on the board of the California Association of the Physically Handicapped.
--DOREEN Tracy: Worked as a manager in Hollywood production companies. She entertained troops in Vietnam and served as one of the advisers in Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now."
