Professor Ellis Pryce-Jones
UNLV Department of Theatre
On Saturday, May 22nd 2004, Professor Ellis Pryce-Jones met with L.V.M.P.D. Robbery Detectives to provide training to undercover police officers involved in the L.V.M.P.D.'s Robbery Decoy Program. This training was to augment the existing decoy program, in operation since the Fall of 2002, which places undercover officers in harm's way on the streets of Las Vegas in the hopes that they will provide a plausible alternative victim for criminals to rob instead of our citizens and tourists.
Professor Pryce-Jones taught officers how to alter their appearance with various makeup and shading techniques. While these techniques are used extensively in the performing arts to alter actors' appearances for stage and screen, this is not something that police officers are typically taught in the normal course of their duties. Afterward, Professor Pryce-Jones referred us to a local makeup artist who works in the local entertainment industry providing makeup services to the stars of the Las Vegas Strip Hotels.
Professor Pryce-Jones took time out of his busy schedule to provide officers with his prodigious knowledge in this field and greatly assisted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in protecting our ever-expanding population. Clearly a master in his field of endeavor, he demonstrated great care and attention to detail in providing this specialized instruction to our officers.
On behalf of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, thank you very much!
